I remember teaching my very first fee-based class back in 2012.
To my surprise, an eight year old boy who was excited about learning to cook, had absolutely NO IDEA where mashed potatoes came from. He thought they could only come from a box!
It was that day, and that little boy, that inspired Healthy Hands Cooking to be the company that not only taught a fun life skill, but to empower this generation of children with knowledge about the origin of food, how it’s grown, and how to make it into a delicious and nutritious snack or meal.
Our educational cooking classes always start with an element of nutrition to set the stage for learning. Through hands-on games and activities, students will learn all about the health benefits of certain foods and then learn how to cook with them.
Home cooking allows us to choose the freshest farm to table ingredients. It allows us to control our portions. It allows us to avoid additives, artificial ingredients, processed components and fake add-ons. It can be free of unhealthy ingredients like hydrogenated fats, high sodium, high sugar, artificial colors, refined grains and fats and still taste amazing.
We think Mr. Pollan said it best…”If it came from a plant, eat it; if it was made in a plant, don’t.”
